Bali Surf Express ยท Guide
What to pack for a surf trip to Bali
Bali is warm, cheap, and you can buy most things there โ so pack light, but pack smart. This is the no-fluff list built from real trips, including the reef kit nobody warns you about.
Boards & surf gear
- Your board(s) in a padded travel bag โ or rent there if you're a beginner (cheaper than airline board fees).
- Spare leash + fins + fin key โ the things that break far from a surf shop.
- Solid wax / tropical wax, and a wax comb.
- Rash guard / surf tee โ Bali sun burns fast.
The reef kit nobody mentions
Bali's breaks are mostly sharp reef. Pack: reef booties (for the Bukit), a small first-aid kit, antiseptic, and waterproof plasters. Reef cuts are the #1 thing that ruins surf trips. If you're new, this is also why you should start on the sand beaches โ see is Bali good for beginners.
Everything else
- Reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 50), a hat, polarized sunglasses.
- Light, quick-dry clothes; one warmer layer for scooter rides at night.
- Power adapter (Type C/F), a dry bag, and a portable charger.
- Cash for warungs; most places take little else outside tourist hubs.
